Tree making with the girls...

We had girls night a few weeks ago with some of my husband's sisters. We wanted to make some festive holiday trees and so I suggested making trees like this gal did. We decided to do five different trees and gathered up our supplies and met one night for some intense glue gunning and girl time.

Man these girls know how to work! They are all crafty and talented and there is never a lull in the conversation with them! We had a great night, talking, eating, getting completely covered in feathers... We started by rolling up our saved cereal boxes and then went to town putting our trees together.

We decided to do a book page, pinecone, feather, twine, and white bean tree. It was a very inexpensive craft to make, which I also love. The cereal boxes worked perfectly for our tree cones.

We worked until about 11:30 PM and then called it a night. I got all of mine done except for the bean tree, and finished that one up the next day.

I have to say I loved this craft! You know how crazy I am about trees anyway... these are just perfect for winter! I'm not taking mine down after Christmas, they are staying up until March as far as I'm concerned. They turned out so cute!!!

And here mine are on my little window seal...

I love all the different textures of the trees. They really turned out super cute. I think that I'm going to make a few more for next year. Thanks for the fun night girls!

Twenty nine...

I'm glad that my husband married me. Even though my birthday is during the muzzle loader deer hunt every single year. It's his favorite hunt you know, always has been. Thankfully we've avoided this predicament for the past 7 years that we've lived out of Utah. This year though... it was back.

I honestly don't care if he hunts on my birthday anymore. We can always celebrate later right? I would rather him go and have a good time with his friends then worry about hunting on my birthday. Well, I guess there was this situation a while ago... on my 21st birthday... where I was left by myself at a cabin for the whole entire day without any phone service or sight of another human being until late into the evening. Yep, I really did spend my 21st birthday all by my lonesome, and was a little sad about that. I'm over it... really I am! But my husband has taken a personal vow to never have that happen again, and to no longer hunt on my birthday.

My boy and I decided to drive out to where he was hunting this year and camp over on Friday night. Such a good decision! I didn't want to spend the whole week with a bunch of smelly hunters {no offense}, but one night was not bad at all.

This was my view when I woke up Saturday morning...

And I just knew it was going to be a beautiful day.

Twenty nine this year... my golden birthday. I don't know why but I've been looking forward to 29 for a long time. Still in my twenties, but hopefully a little wiser than I was in my early twenties.

The boy needed to use the potty, which was a few miles away. We normally would not drive to the potty while out camping in the woods but I felt like going on an early morning drive to see this beautiful place we were in.

Best decision of the day.

You see, mother nature had a {few} wonderful birthday presents for me on this drive. I left camp, turned a few corners, and found myself in the most beautiful golden aspen forest.

For miles, and miles, and MILES all you could see were golden aspen trees! I drove slowly along the dirt road trying to soak in as much of the sun reflecting off these golden beauties as I could... it was magical to me.

It was one of the most amazing drives of my life. I know that it's the time of year for leaves to change, and I was up in the mountains, but it almost felt like someone had painted all the trees gold the night before just for me on my golden birthday. I shed a few tears at the beauty I was beholding and considered it a gift.

The next gift that was on my drive... sheep. Lots of sheep. I love seeing wildlife outside and Utah has a lot of it. But seeing hundreds of sheep brings me back to my college days when I went to Snow College. There were many mornings I would be walking to school and the roads in Ephraim would be covered in sheep. This city girl {who wishes she was a country girl} loved it when the farmers would do that.

So we slowed down even more and watched the sheep.

I took the most awesome movie of the hundreds of sheep surrounding our car... but I can't for the life of me get it to load. So sorry, that you have to miss out on that one ;). It was pretty amazing to see all these sheep out there.

Even with all my tree gazing and sheep watching going on, we still made it to the loo in time. I love that my birthday started out with something so simple yet special. It's the small and simple things that sometimes bring us the most joy. When we got back to camp we packed everything up and headed home. My cute husband was true to his word and did not hunt on my birthday. He made me feel very special. Mother nature made me feel special. My wonderful friends and family members made me feel special. It was a great day. I'm lucky to be so loved and have such great people in my life.

You can find it in my shop here.

Also, head on over to Love Luci for a giveaway! You can enter to win one of my family trees just in time for Christmas (giveaway open until December 6th).

Hanging trees...

I've been busy the last week or so hanging pictures up around my house. Things are looking a lot better around here I have to say. I love seeing our cute family on the walls.

Along with hanging family pictures I finally got around to hanging my own trees up on the wall. These are trees for my boys that are hung in my sons room.

I love our family tree. The frame is from IKEA and the mat is from Michaels. I had to trim it down a bit to fit the frame but I think that it looks really nice. Sorry for the bad glare... I am no photographer that's for sure.

Big thank you!!!

I wanted to say THANK YOU!!! to everyone who ordered family trees this year! It's been a forest around here... literally! I've had so much fun making these, knowing that someone will open this on Christmas morning... a tree symbolizing their family... I'm so happy to be a part of that.

I wanted to share my most "challenging" tree of the season. One family named four of their kids "R" names... so initials weren't the best idea. Instead I stitched out the full names...

I think that it turned out really cute! Ron, Richard, Ryan, Randy... and Kelli ;). Too cute!

Family Tree...

I made my parents a family tree and gave it to them for Christmas last year. It proudly hangs by their front door for all who enter their house to see. I've been wanting to offer this tree in my shop all year and it is finally in!

Each tree is customized with dad + mom initials plus all of the children's initials stitched down the tree.

I'm excited to have this available! Order soon if you would like to give this to a special family for Christmas!

Finished tree mural...

Ahhh... it's finally done. I tried to pick a tree that was pretty basic and didn't have too much detail... but it still took forever! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. There were a few times that I was tempted to just forget about it and paint over the whole thing... I'm happy with how it turned out!

Here is where I got the inspiration for the tree...

Little tree forest...

Well, I made some more... I love these cute little onsies! Here is a little forest of green ones. I'm still trying to figure out the best kind of stabilizer to put on the back... so if any of you have any suggestions let me know! These trees have already been adopted... so I hope that everyone who got one doesn't see it here first!

Husband is out and has my camera.... so that's a little sad. I hope that he is taking good care of it. I finally finished the tree in my little boy's room today so pictures of that to come!
