My friend Ashley told me about this great Interior Design website called Sproost that has a test you can take to determine your own personal design style. I took this test a few months back and it said that I was 33% contemporary, 33% modern elegance, and 34% cottage chic. I was a little surprised by the results... because I like modern and contemporary but I do think that I'm a little more cottage chic.

100% Rustic Revival
Amen... just look at this picture. I do love the mix of modern and country. I like solid clean colors. I like to throw in plants and prints here and there but this room feels like home to me. This is more of what I would like to achieve someday in my home. I would love to get a cow print rug (sorry animal lovers...) and put a set of antlers on the wall... as long as it was modern and classy and not cabin fever.
Go take the quiz! I think I'm going to have to re-take it again in a little while just to double check... it's fun!

ReplyDeleteThat was fun. I haven't really known what my style is but this helped a ton! I also took it twice. The first time I got 100% rustic revival but I'm not really into animal prints/artifacts. So I took it again and got a much better combination: %40 Nantucket style, 40% Cottage chic, and 20% classic. The Nantucket and cottage definitely fit to a T. The classic influence comes in because I think it fits Susan's style (Alan's mom). Her house is quite comfortable and has had some influence in my decorating. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun website! It said I'm 100% Nantucket Style. Who knew?!? :) That's not really how I decorate, but I did love the pictures on the website of that style.
ReplyDeleteAbout your machine quilting question: what kind of thread are you using? When I started practicing, I just used my regular thread that I've been using for everything else (I think just the cheap Coats and Clark multipurpose polyester thread). That thread seemed to work fine. Then I read online that it's really a better idea to use cotton thread for machine quilting. So I bought some cotton kind--but it kept breaking. It drove me crazy! So now I'm back to the cheap polyester kind and it seems to work okay. If you haven't already tried switching to a different kind of thread, that's what I'd try first. I hope that helps!
